Loving Hands Prayer Shawl Ministry

We are a group of knitters and crocheters serving God and discipling mothers. We do this by creating shawls for mothers or single fathers who have lost a child of any age. It is important that each shawl reflects the color preference of the child as well as their personality. Additionally a pattern is chosen to fit the mother’s personality and need.

Each step of the process is under God’s guidance. The knitting or crocheting aspect is referred to as purposeful and prayerful, meaning that we pray for the mom and other family members. It is our intent that finished shawls represent Gods unconditional love, which we freely and lovingly pass on to let mothers or single fathers know they are not alone.

Upcoming Session:

Dates:
3rd Monday of every month
Time:
6:30pm
Location:
Cornerstone Fellowship Livermore Campus

To request a prayer shawl please print and complete these documents and fax to Jane Jewell, Care Giving Ministry, 925-371-1776.

Please feel free to contact us if you know anyone in the community who has lost a child.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy and the God of every comfort. Who comforts us in every trouble, so that we may also be able to comfort those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."   2 Corinthians 1: 3-4

Prison Ministry

"Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ…"   Galatians 6:1-2

Our desire is to restore those in prison to right relationship with Christ, restoring their dignity as human beings, and restoring them to right relationship with their families and the community. We enter this ministry of restoration by reaching out to them with copies of Sunday’s message, writing letters to them, and visiting them cell to cell. We continue by connecting with them through listening, sharing the Word of God and praying with them. We then help them grow through Bible studies, mentoring and discipling relationships. We serve them by providing them with Bibles, study materials and some physical help when they are released. We see God restoring their dignity and sense of value and family when we lead and attend worship services with them.

"Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflected by the majority, so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, lest somehow such a one be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him."  2 Corinthians 2:6-8

IN-CARE

  • Mailing transcribed copies of Sunday's sermons to inmates
  • Pen Pal correspondence
  • Cell visitation
  • Bible study correspondence courses
  • Discipleship

We are currently discipling and sending correspondence to 230 inmates, in 20 different facilities throughout the United States.

"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."   Matthew 25:36

AFTER-CARE
After-care is helping inmates that are released transition back into society and their community. By providing counseling, discipleship, and other support services as needed. Helping them adjust to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in family, work, and in service to the community.

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."  1 John 3:16-18
